A Word From Our Pastor

Happy New Year!

As we begin a new year, I encourage you to stop and thank God for the blessings of 2011. I recently read an article stating that researchers have discovered that it is psychologically impossible to be grateful and be negative at the same time.  Let’s count our blessings from last year and then I encourage you to dream about what God has for you in 2012.

I look forward with anticipation to what the Lord has for us here at Oakhurst Baptist this month. Let me share a few things that we have to look forward to.

First, we will begin a new sermon series called “Fully Devoted.”  This series will be an in depth study on Romans chapter 12.  I encourage you to begin reading Romans 12 for your devotions and spend some time thinking about how these verses could impact your life.

On Sunday, January 12, we will have a special Parent Child dedication service. What a high hour this will be as we commit ourselves to the next generation.

Then on Sunday, January 22, we will have a baptism service.  Presently we have four individuals waiting to be baptized.  

Finally let me remind you that Journey will meet on January 15 and January 29 at 6 PM in the fellowship hall.  Let’s support our youth as they help lead us in worship. I trust that 2012 will be a year of great growth for both you and our church.
